S. Marc Zybutz

Marc articled with Walsh Wilkins Creighton LLP and was called to the bar in May of 2000. He spent the next two years working as an associate at Walsh Wilkins, and then worked as a litigation associate at several boutique law firms, and re-joined Walsh Wilkins Creighton in April of 2010.

Marc has appeared before all levels of the Court in Alberta, and has successfully conducted trials and numerous complex court applications, some of which have been reported in various law reports and journals.

During his years of practice, Marc has maintained a general litigation practice, including civil and commercial litigation, foreclosure, builder’s liens, construction law, personal injury, and family law.

Marc has additional experience in the areas of bankruptcy and insolvency, intellectual property, and employment law, and regularly acts for construction companies, oil and gas service and supply companies, employers, and lenders.

Growing up in what was then called the Republic of South Africa, Marc moved to Calgary in 1976. He obtained a B.A. in Law and Society from the University of Calgary in 1994, prior to attending Law School at the University of Calgary from 1996 to 1999.

Before commencing his university studies, Marc was a member of a light infantry regiment in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Marc is a member of the Calgary and Canadian Bar Associations, the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, and volunteers as a mentor lawyer with the University of Calgary Law School Student Legal Assistance program.
